I show hundreds of homes each year to my clients and the most overlooked rooms in most homes are the bedrooms. We tend to decorate bedrooms with little imagination. A bed, two night stands, dresser, 2 lamps. and close the door. BORING!
How can you give a bedroom some style without spending a fortune? Here are four inexpensive ideas:
1. Accent a wall with tile as shown above. Don't be afraid to use color and pattern. There are literally thousands of types of tiles available. One of the best choices is tile that looks like brick. It can be painted and works well with many types of homes.
2. Accent a wall with wood molding and paint the entire wall a dark color. The wood molding shown here makes this room warm and inviting.
3. Use paint to accent a bedroom ceiling. Dark color on the ceiling adds drama and depth. The ceiling color shown here coordinates with the fabric headboard.
4. The simplest and easiest update is to use large mirrors for drama or to reflect light. Here, the contemporary design shows two large mirrors leaned against the wall opposite the bed. ( These should be secured to the wall to prevent from falling)
